Being a single, working mom isn’t easy. It’s tough to find the time to cook every meal from scratch! I still want the best for my baby—and I’m sure you feel the same way.
When I buy organic applesauce, I make sure it’s pure organic apples (since apples are usually on the Dirty Dozen list). And nothing makes me happier than when it comes in a glass jar—shoutout to my favorite online grocery store for making that happen!
Online organic groceries have been a lifesaver with a fantastic range of organic options for baby food, all delivered right to your door. Pumpkin Tree Peter Rabbit Organics offer the best variety and clean ingredients at great prices. For example, their Banana, Mango, Broccoli & Kale Pouch contains nothing but organic banana puree, organic mango puree, organic broccoli puree, organic kale puree, and organic lemon juice concentrate.
For those willing to splurge, Serenity Kids is top-notch. Their Grass Fed Beef with Organic Kale and Sweet Potato Pouch is divine, even if it’s a bit pricier. I wish the beef was organic too, but the rest of the ingredients are excellent: Organic Sweet Potato, Water, Grass Fed Beef, Organic Kale, Himalayan Sea Salt.
I’m cautious about what goes into my child’s belly—no additives or preservatives for my baby’s developing gut! (At least not while I have complete control over what he’s eating – we take advantage of these days! Things definitely change as they get older.) If I can’t picture an ingredient as a whole food, I prefer to pass. For instance, while Serenity Kids offers Bone Broth, Broccoli & Spinach Grain Free Puffs, ingredients like Dicalcium Phosphate make me think twice.
Yet, I stumbled upon Paleo Puffs—initially bought for myself, and my son loved them too! They’re much cleaner than other snacks (Organic Cassava Flour, Organic Coconut Oil, Tapioca Starch, Organic Coconut Flour, Sweet Potato Flour, Himalayan Salt). They’re available on the same online organic grocery store as the other items I’ve mentioned! I did find them cheaper on Amazon, but the online organic grocery store will price match and I’d rather buy from there.
My baby also loves brown rice noodles topped with red sauce from the same place—organic and free from garlic and onion, which is a personal preference. Given tomatoes’ spot on the dirty dozen list, finding organic red sauce is a win.
With these high standards, my son didn’t have the typical sugar-filled birthday cake on his first birthday. Curious about what he did have? Check out this Healthy Birthday Cake Recipe. I also have quick and easy recipes for homemade baby food.
