From the day you discover your pregnancy all the way through toddler years, your body ceases to be solely your own. There is such a special connection between mother and child, and babywearing supports the growth and nurturing of that closeness and bond. Not to mention the hands-free convenience and developmental benefits for your baby!

When it’s time to cook, clean, feed yourself, take a bathroom break – whatever it is! – babywearing lets you get it done while giving Baby the snuggles he craves. It even counts as tummy time! Talk about multitasking.

Being able to get things done while meeting Baby’s needs is also a nice peek into finding your new balance in this life as a mom.

There is something special about having Baby nestled up nice and close – heart to heart. This was the answer to an inconsolable crying baby during my first week of motherhood, and babywearing continues to be a secret weapon of mine into toddlerhood with my little.

This closeness triggers the release of oxytocin, the “happiness hormone,” calming both Momma and Baby. Perfect for the great days, the rough days, and everything in between.

The wellbeing of your baby’s developing body is of utmost concern for us mommas. I’m delighted to report babywearing is more than a convenience: it’s a method that supports the alignment of your baby’s hips, evenly distributes weight, and encourages proper hip and spine development.

For a colicky baby, close contact is the best medicine. Babywearing provides the gentle, consistent motion that soothes, the upright position that alleviates symptoms, and the closeness that provides the comfort often needed during naps and sleep.

Getting nice and cozy in a baby wrap can also be just the thing Baby needs to fall right to sleep.

There are three different types of babywearing:

During the newborn days, I absolutely loved my baby wrap. (Snag a 10% discount with this link.) I recommend getting two so you have one on deck when the other is in the wash (spoiler alert, babies spit up).

Once Baby starts showing interest in seeing the world in front of them and being forward-facing, this is when a baby carrier comes into play. It’s also a more convenient option on the go, and typically has a larger weight capacity than the wrap, allowing you to use it comfortably into toddler years. You can grab my favorite baby carrier here – just search for the Explore carrier.

The last kind is the toddler sling. This is a bit more convenient for when Baby wants up-down-up-down. It’s also the least expensive of all the options. You can grab my favorite here.

I own all three types and they all serve their own purpose in different situations. I hope this was super helpful to you. You got this, Momma!
