While conventional teething gels and rings are available, many new moms seek natural remedies to alleviate their baby’s teething pain. These options can offer gentle relief without exposing your baby to synthetic chemicals. Let’s explore some effective natural teething remedies that you can incorporate into your baby’s routine.

Teething Drops

Boiron’s Camilia teething drops are a popular choice among parents seeking homeopathic solutions. Found at Target or your local health food store, these drops are designed to soothe your child’s teething discomfort naturally.

Breast Milk Popsicles

For breastfeeding moms, breast milk popsicles can be a comforting and nutritious teething remedy. These frozen treats offer a soothing sensation to sore gums while providing the familiar taste of breast milk. To make breast milk popsicles, simply pour your expressed milk into popsicle molds and freeze them until solid.

Cold Veggies

Introducing too-big-to-swallow cold vegetables as a teething aid can help numb sore gums, offering a natural form of relief. At the same time, your baby can explore new tastes and textures, encouraging healthy eating habits as they transition to solid foods.

Of course, always supervise your baby while they chew on cold veggies to prevent choking hazards.

Coconut Oil (+ essential oil)

Coconut oil is a versatile natural product that offers many benefits, including its use as a teething remedy. When mixed with the right essential oil, it can be a wonderful way to soothe your baby’s gums.

To make this remedy, choose organic, cold-pressed, unrefined coconut oil for purity and effectiveness. Combine 2 oz of coconut oil with one or two drops of essential oil, and gently massage it onto your baby’s gums or along the jaw line. If you don’t have the right essential oil, try the coconut oil on its own.

Nursing

During teething episodes, your baby may seek to nurse more frequently. This increased nursing can help distract them from their discomfort and provide a sense of relief. Additionally, the physical contact and familiarity of nursing can have a calming effect on both you and your baby.

It’s important to practice patience during this time, as your baby might be more fussy or clingy than usual. Remember that this phase is temporary, and your nurturing presence can make a significant difference in your baby’s comfort.

Environment

Keeping your baby’s environment calm and soothing can also make a difference. Consider playing gentle music, using a soft nightlight, or incorporating calming scents like lavender in their room. These elements can help create a sense of tranquility, easing both you and your baby through the teething process.

Remember, motherhood is a beautiful journey, and each teething moment offers an opportunity for bonding and growth. Seek support, trust your instincts, and celebrate the milestones along the way.
