As your little one grows, you’ll notice the exciting milestone when they want to try what you’re eating and drinking. It’s a heartwarming sign of their development unfolding right before your eyes.
It can also pose a dilemma if you’re enjoying something that isn’t suitable for an infant just starting out on solids and consuming mostly breast milk.
Take our morning Chocolate Protein Shake for example.
We love it, it makes a huge difference in our morning, it helps us nourish ourselves during the chaos of busy mom life, but if you take a close look at the ingredients, it’s not an ideal choice for an infant. No protein powder is.
The first three years are pivotal in shaping your child’s gut health, as it takes that time to fully mature. That’s why opting for whole, unprocessed foods for your infant (once solids are introduced) is vital beyond breastfeeding.
So, faced with my baby eyeing my chocolate shake, I whipped up a special treat β a Chocolate “Baby Shake.”
Chocolate “Baby Shake” Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 3-5 oz breast milk
- 1/3 frozen banana
- Spoonful nut butter
- Spoonful cacao powder
Instructions:
- Rinse the blender after preparing the Chocolate Protein Shake.
- Combine breast milk, frozen banana, nut butter, and cacao powder in the blender.
- Blend until smooth.
- Serve in a special cup for Baby with a straw.
- Enjoy your chocolate shakes together — cheers!!
This recipe is just one example of how you can adapt your meals to include your little one in a safe and nutritious way. It’s important to remember that every child is different and may have allergies or sensitivities, so always consult with your pediatrician before introducing new foods.
